The hotel is located in an excellent location for touring Madrid. Everything is close-by and walkable. There are countless restaurants and plazas close by. It is on a busy street but the pedestrian only areas are right around the block. The room was large (by European standards) and very quiet. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Bathroom was very modern and also very clean. We opted for the breakfast as part of our rate and weren't disappointed. It was a buffet style but "made to order" entries were available as well. Pretty much anything you might expect was available and the service staff was very attentive and willing to do more. If someone reading this wanted to save a few dollars on their room rate, there are also lots of breakfast places within a few feet of the front door if a huge food selection isn't important. I especially want to emphasize the hotel staff and especially the front-desk reception group who truly went out of their way to make our stay extra comfortable and easier. We had to make a small change in travel plans while there and the front desk staff worked the train schedules and dealt with this for us. As a further example of going the extra mile, our departure was now scheduled for early in the morning before we could take advantage of the breakfast service that day. To our surprise the hotel packed two "picnic boxes" for us to take onto the train. All the staff was wonderfully accommodating, but I do want to give a special call out to one young lady, Alba, who really helped us with travel changes, dinner recommendations and more. We felt like she really cared about making our visit an excellent experience. She represents the hotel extremely well. Our trip to Spain included five different hotels in different areas. This property was the best of the group. We'd certainly choose this hotel again if we return to Madrid.

We recently stayed at the Catalonia Puerta del Sol in Madrid, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel is beautifully designed, blending classic architecture with modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable and stylish stay. One of the standout features of this hotel is its fantastic location. Nestled in the heart of Madrid, it is within walking distance to many of the city's top attractions, including the vibrant Puerta del Sol and the historic Plaza Mayor. What made the stay even more enjoyable was the proximity to a plethora of restaurants. Whether you're in the mood for traditional Spanish tapas, fine dining, or international cuisine, you'll find a multitude of excellent dining options just a stone's throw away. The hotel's staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with any requests or provide recommendations for places to eat and visit. My room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped, offering a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the bustling city. Overall, the Catalonia Puerta del Sol is a perfect choice for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the rich culture and culinary delights of Madrid. I highly recommend this hotel for its superb location, wonderful accommodations, and outstanding service.

Catalonia Puerta del Sol, located at Atocha 23 in the heart of Madrid and surrounded by restaurants and cafés, is just minutes away from el Museo del Prado, el Palacio Real de Madrid, la Plaza Mayor, el Mercado de San Miguel, and many other historical attractions, making it easy to explore the city without needing transportation. The hotel is housed in a historic building with vintage interior décor, creating a stylish and cozy urban vibe. It has an indoor courtyard with a bar, and guests can choose rooms with quieter courtyard views, as the streets of Madrid can be quite lively at night. The rooms offer very comfortable, firm mattresses and spacious bathrooms equipped with everything you need after a long flight. Breakfast is served downstairs and includes a continental menu with a variety of options, such as assorted cheeses, omelets with sausage, croissants and other pastries accompanied by various jams, fresh coffee, orange juice, and traditional Spanish tortilla de patata. These excellent accommodations are complemented by outstanding customer service.

Breakfast, good choices especially as we’re vegetarian. Love being able to order omelettes as we wanted. Good range of cereal and fresh fruit. Very helpful staff especially Sonia. Relaxed pleasant atmosphere but efficient. Hotel position good for walking around Madrid. Convenient Metro station a few minutes walk (Tirso de Molinas). Reception staff very helpful and friendly, always had time to answer queries. Madrid is beautiful, only problem is with the Prado which we booked a month in advance but were still waiting in a very long and hot queue an hour past our entrance time. Seems the Prado oversells tickets which then have to be verified (1st queue ) and then there is a rigorous scanning process, longer than the airport (2nd queue). Afternoons are much better and don’t take a rucksack as this will be held ( 3rd queue) Exhibition excellent once you get inside.

It was not my first time staying at a Catalonia hotel, but it was the first time in this beautiful structure of Puerta del Sol. The location is absolutely perfect, not only because it is in the very centre of the city, but also because it's super close to the underground. The lovely staff exceeded my expectations giving me un upgraded room, very comfortable, beautiful and super clean, with a nice external view. I love everything, and I'll be back soon!
