Great location to walk or use public transportation to get around the city. We spent 5 days there and bought a metro visitor pass which made it easy to get all over the city from the hotel by bus or Metro. The room was spacious, clean, and the bathroom was beautiful. We had a street view room which was very soundproof. We never heard noises from the other rooms next to us. The breakfast was fresh and with many options. The ladies in the breakfast area were kind and welcoming every morning. The gentlemen at the front desk were always friendly and helpful. It was nice to have a bar in the hotel to stop in for a cocktail when you arrive back after being out most of the evening. I would stay here again next time I visit Madrid!

This hotel used to be a mansion owned by some marquis/ nobleman in the 18th-19th century. The mansion has been converted to a hotel in recent times. The carriage house has been converted to the hotel lobby with the reception desk. The original courtyard and staircase with wooden balustrades and plaster carvings have been retained. Our bedroom was a nice large suite with a king bed and balcony window overlooking the street. Very nicely appointed room. Separate Sitting Room with a bed sofa which we did not use. Safe, Coffee machine, tea, iron, mini-bar fridge etc. Very high ceilings. The bathroom is large and great.

Catalonia Puerta del Sol is a very comfortable place to stay, and it's near metro stations, shops, and anything else needed. The building itself is pretty cool and kind of historic. Inside they have a really beautiful wooden stairway, and rooms have very nice and spanish traditional windows and balconies. Also, the entrance doorway is very nice I myself made a father-daughter trip, and we were very comfortable. The bathroom had very nice water pressure for shower and bath, real nice soaps and shampoos, ver comfy towels, and also had a hair dryer available. So, yeah, I totally will recommend it.

Very good, comfortable hotel in excellent location about five minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol which, despite its location, was pleasantly quiet (we had a courtyard facing room). The room was well equipped and a good size, with a large bathroom. We also appreciated that certain aspects of the old building had been preserved in the public areas. We preferred to have breakfast outside of the hotel and there were loads of decent cafés in the close vicinity. Definitely an oasis of calm in a bustling city centre.

Location near Puerta del Sol was fantastic, the staff was amazing -- offered us great suggestions re: authentic neighborhood spots for dining, and also were brilliant re: wake-up call at 4:30 am and taxi at 5 am. Not easy for any of us but the staff made everything go smoothly. Finally: The hotel atmosphere is wonderful - we love old buildings restored with mod cons. This stay was the epitome of that experience. THANK YOU!
